FAMILY CAREGIVER SURVIVIAL SKILLS
Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.
– John Lennon
We didn’t plan on or plan for Alzheimer’s. We didn’t think it would happen to our family. Until it did.
Sound familiar?
We aren't doctors, nurses, senior living salespeople, insurance specialists, VA specialists, dietitians or occupational therapists. We’re people, like you—learning as we go.
We were disappointed at the resources for family caregivers—especially people who don’t understand computers, don’t often use email and still have a landline. While they are buried under increasing responsibilities every day, they soldier on—so close to the resources they don’t understand how to find or use.
Our single goal is to help family caregivers stay one step ahead of Alzheimer’s. Caring for someone fighting Alzheimer’s doesn’t have to be a sh*tstorm (literally or figuratively). Being ready can help keep your life balanced while you’re in the eye of the hurricane.
There are umpteen Alzheimer's resources to pore over online, but if you don’t know where to look, how to find them or don’t have time, it won’t help. Alzheimer’s research, statistics, and news don’t help people caring for a loved one at home, by themselves.
Failing to plan is planning to fail. – Alan Lakein
Avoid “baptism by fire.” Learn what works and what doesn’t. Be ready for Alzheimer’s.
